Points for being unique, and I liked the clash of piano against harder instruments. I thought it was a touch repetitive in the first minute or so, but every song I make is repetitive, so I can't go berating you, now, can I?

Can't stress enough - love the contrasting instruments throughout the song. Definitely a plus. As the previous review said, I'm not sure if it's really "drum and bass", but I can hear the breakbeat. One bit I'd say is to be a bit more creative with those drums! It's a lot of fun to play with breakbeat patterns! I have more trouble with synth creativity with any sort of DnB, so I don't really touch it, but the percussion is my only forte.... Even if it's more mezzo forte than anything.

I'm getting sidetracked. I love the song, but I'd play more with the percussion for sure. Great work!

Great review!
The way I see creating melodies for dnb is to not be intimidated or bothered by the drums. Just make whatever you think sounds nice on it's own w/o the drums and then add the drums, usually if the melody is good the drums will help.

I put it in the dnb category because there is not a more specific sub category of dnb like drumstep/breakbeat.
Just like b4 ng got many audio portal updated people would put dubstep in the dnb category becasue there wasn't a dubstep selection XD

You really need to enter into something. You've got a lot of talent! You're just not being noticed by anybody. I love your creative melodies with your hardstyle, though I usually find the kicks to be slightly lacking, but... Well, it's rare for me to really like the kick in any newer hardstyle songs. Can't really beat you up for that. Excellent work, as always, and I hope to see you in a contest in the future!

Thanks a lot MisterJayElectro, always nice to hear from you! =)

Really like the bass used. It's a little short and simple for me, but I figure it's not bad, especially for an older song. Nice work!

Chaoszerom responds:

Thanks! ^-^

I like it, but I do wish the lead was a little more interesting. I know it's meant to be simple, but I'm sure this could really go far if you let it grow. But again, simplicity. Very good song though, just like most of yours!

YakovlevArt responds:

Oh thanks a lot for the compliments.
I really focused not only on simplicity of the lead, but simplicity in effects, with the wobbles and glitchy parts. The melody was the main element though in this one. I wanted to to see if i could make a catchy melody with such a simple sound. I really enjoyed the flexibility and the thought of how far I could push it, but I decided to lay low and make something small.

Thanks a lot for your review and if i make another track similar to this one, I'll make sure to push the complexity further =]

This is a good trance song, I really like it. It's a touch too slow for me, but then again, I enjoy hard acid, happy hardcore, hardstyle, the 150-160BPM stuff... I'm not into slower music, so I can't really complain.

You've got a strong melody throughout the song and some excellent percussion. As a percussionist, I really love when the percussion gets attention in a song, and you've got that. Very pretty song, but just a tad slow for me.

9/10, but 5/5. It just seemed a little unfocused, the melody was the only thing holding it together. Maybe that's just me. Keep it up, though, you've got more potential than me!

M3kanist responds:

Well, hey thanks man! Any criticism is criticism so I'll take it positively! Yeah, I really need to work on my percussion more, I know my melody's aren't too bad because I've been practicing them A LOT.

It's not just you, I've showed this track to others and they said the timing was off a bit, so you're actually right. I guess practice makes perfect.

P.S. Because I listen to modern trance, I'm used to the 125-135 BPM and and anything above is just too fast and becomes techno for me, so I see where you're coming from about it being too slow.

Cheers.

Aaaand I'm off to check this guy out

Again, I love the bass here. The piano offsets it in a good way, too. I'm not sure who did what, but the fact that it meshes so wonderfully makes me wonder how in the world this was done by two people... Awesome! 5/5 and 10/10

Silver-Echo responds:

Um, Ian done most of the piano melody and made the bass noise and a basic bassline and all of the drum beats.. I made the bassline a bit more jumpy and added another sidechained at 0;44ish and some general effects/mastering and another small melody :)

GAH!!!

How can your music be so professional and awesome, yet you're not very known?? Another amazing track, man. I love the kick/reverse kick in the intro. The main melody is awesome, but I feel like the instrument isn't powerful enough to meet the level of the kick. Maybe it's just because I like screaming instruments with my hardstyle. It's just too... Happy Hardcore for me, and though I like happy hardcore, it doesn't match the kick.

But ignore me, I'm nowhere near your level!! If you'd finish the song, I'd submit it (Of course, I'd submit almost all of your tracks if I were you, but that's just me)

DJT3chnic responds:

With the melody i was trying to mix hands up with hardstyle. heh, I may change it to a harder sounding lead, or should i say, "More distorted". Thanks for the feedback. =) Much appreciated.
